JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel
JUVÉDERM® collection of dermal fillers include JUVÉDERM® Ultra, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus, JUVÉDERM® Vollure, JUVÉDERM® Voluma and JUVÉDERM® Volbella, each with it’s own characteristics and abilities in correcting facial imperfections.
What is it?
JUVÉDERM® is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel generated by
non-animal protein, that is injected into facial tissue to correct lines, folds, scars, depressions, volume loss or augment cheeks, chin, lips.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body that keeps the skin plump, hydrated and youthful looking. In order to convert the hyaluronic molecules into a stable injectable filler, Allergan uses a special bonding technique called “cross-linking” which gives the filler its thickness and longevity.
What makes JUVEDERM® different?
JUVÉDERM® is the first smooth-consistency HA gel and the only HA filler that’s FDA approved to last up to a year for JUVÉDERM® Ultra, Ultra Plus and Volbella, 18 months for JUVÉDERM® Vollure, and 2 years for JUVÉDERM® Voluma. This is due to two innovative manufacturing processes called HYLACROSS and VYCROSS technology, which gives JUVÉDERM® its unique smooth-gel properties and an optimal gel structure that holds up over time.
What does is do?
As we age, the skin changes, loses collages, resulting in facial wrinkles and folds, like those “parentheses” lines around your mouth, or lines at the corner of you mouth. It also loses volume, making the face look tired or sad due to hollows bellow the eyes, deflated cheeks, heavier jowls. When we inject JUVÉDERM® in the areas of need, we bring back its volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, giving it a more youthful, rested, relaxed appearance.
Studies have also shown that JUVÉDERM® stimulates own collagen formation in the area of treatment, thus triggering own rejuvenation process.
How is it used and what will it accomplish?
JUVÉDERM® gel is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe wrinkles and folds occur, or areas of volume loss like the cheeks, bellow the eyes, or in the chin. The most commonly treated areas are the naso-labial folds, marionette lines, eyes, lips and cheeks.
Most patients need just one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. It is a quick, in-office procedure, and the results are seen immediately.
