PIN Micro-Needling
What is PIN or Automated Micro-Needling?
P.I.N. stands for Percutaneous Induction Needling, also referred to as P.C.I.T., Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy… a.k.a. micro-needling, or automated micro-needling.
P.I.N. is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine. It is a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin in order to induce the skin’s repair process, triggering a release of natural growth factors, new collagen & elastin. New collagen and elastin produce younger, healthier, plumper and firmer skin which aides in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars and overall better tone and texture.
Also the superficial micro-channels created by automated micro-needling allow topical serums, creams or P.R.P. (platelet rich plasma) to reach the true targeted areas, producing a much more efficacious result.
This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling, lasers and other ablative treatments, providing quicker healing, yet noticeable results. Because it doesn’t induce any heat, it is more comfortable than lasers or radio frequency , and safe for any skin type.
Collagen and Eclipse P.I.N. are the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling devices on the market and the preferred choice for many reasons:
- Both utilize sterile single-use, surgical grade, disposable needle tips.
- Safe for ALL skin types.
- Comfortable treatment described as a vibrating tickle, due to quick penetration by the needles generated by the powerful motor.
- Customizable treatments to individual needs of each patient, due to the adjustable needle depth.
What are the benefits my skin can see from a P.I.N. treatment?
P.I.N. activates cellular regeneration to help tighten and lift skin, while minimizing common skin problems such as:
- Stretch marks
- Acne scars
- Body scars
- Fine lines
- Photo-aging
- Dull skin
- Poor texture
Who can be treated, and what areas of the body?
P.I.N. can be used on all skin types and most areas of the body can be treated, unless your medical provider determines otherwise.
- Face
- Décolletage
- Neck
- Abdomen
- Legs
- Hands
- Arms
- Back
How is the P.I.N. procedure done?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 or 36 tiny micro-needles is attached to the device. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical serum (hyaluronic acid or PRP) to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the device will be gently glided across the skin until the entire treatment area has been covered, with the option of repeating it 1-2 more times. This results in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area. These tiny micro-channels stimulate your skin’s own natural ability to heal itself, thereby creating new skin. Simultaneously Hyaluronic Acid (HA) or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) will be delivered deep into the skin, enhancing healing and the results.
Will the P.I.N. procedure hurt?
Prior to your treatment, the medical provider will apply a topical numbing agent. Most people say they feel almost nothing after having been pretreated with a topical numbing agent.
What will I look like after my P.I.N. treatment?
P.I.N. is considered a no downtime treatment. Immediately after your treatment your skin will look slightly pink to moderately red. Your medical provider will recommend skin care products for your post care based on your individual skin, which will greatly minimize these symptoms and enhance your overall results.
How many P.I.N. treatments will I need?
Typically a series of 4-6 treatments is recommended, depending upon your area of correction or concern. Your skincare professional will ultimately determine a treatment schedule based on your individual goals and desires.
Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, usually require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results.
Treatments are usually spaced 4 weeks apart.
How long will it take for me to see results from my P.I.N. treatment?
Individual results vary depending on individual skin health. Many patients start seeing results as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment. For most patients, the results are gradual over a 3-6 month period as new collagen is formed and remodeled.
How long will my P.I.N. results last?
P.I.N. produces results through the stimulation of growth factors and collagen, thereby promoting new skin cells to surface. Fibroblasts – the cells that synthesize new collagen – are active for up to as much as one year after just one P.I.N. treatment. However, a series of treatments is typically recommended for best results.
Also your overall result will last longer when using an at home skin care regimen.
